Health Status Alert System
The Health Status Alert System (HSAS) uses three basic colors to alert the public to the current health status in Hickory County.

Code Green means there are no immediate, serious health threats in the county. The message that follows is for your information only. Messages under a Code Green status might include dates and times for flu shot clinics, ways to protect yourself during extreme hot or cold temperatures, or information on how to eliminate mosquito breeding habitats in your yard.
Code Yellow is a Health Caution. Your attention is needed as a specific message will follow and may affect you. Messages under a Code Yellow status might include food recalls, information on how to protect your health after a flood in the area, or information on who should receive a rabies shot if a rabid animal is found in the county.
Code Red is a Health Alert and requires your attention. A specific message will follow and will likely require you to take quick action. Messages under a Code Red status might include where to receive medication if you may have been exposed to a bilogical agent like anthrax, food or water sources that might not be safe after a contamination event occurs, or how to protect yourself from getting a contagious disease if an outbreak should occur.
